The hearing of an appeal filed in the Supreme Court by the NGO Coordination Board challenging a judgement of the Court of Appeal upholding a High Court Judgement in which the Board was ordered to register the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC) failed to take off on 11th June, 2020 when it had been scheduled.

According to NGLHRC no reasons were given for the adjournment and no fresh date was given.

 On 15th March, 2020 the Chief Justice directed that courts be shut and staff work from home owing to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings. Courts have been conducting limited online sessions and are due to open on 15th June, 2020.

The High Court in Petition No. 440 of 2013, Eric Gitari Versus The NGO Coordination Board, among other declarations, ordered the Board to register the NGLHRC, but aggrieved, the Board appealed from the decision in Civil Appeal No. 145 of 2015.

However, the Court of Appeal in a judgement dated 22nd March, 2019, upheld the judgement of the High Court.
